2 Weddings and a Book Trailer!

Last weekend I had the privilege of working with Aldo and Ivan from Step1Productions.com on 2 weddings!
We had a blast and the footage looks awesome!

The first wedding was at the Immaculata in San Diego and the reception was in the ballroom at the Prado in Balboa Park, gorgeous!

The second wedding, the next day, was at the fabulous Mission Inn in Riverside.
All I can say is wow!

Then on Monday it was down to North Coast Church in Vista, Ca to start filming the book trailer for Renee Johnson’s new book!

Today I am back at North Coast to finish the first round of the book trailer and 3 interviews.
Wish me luck!!

Yes I have driven to San Diego and back to New Mexico 3 weeks in a row.
I’m extremely tired but really excited.
In that time I have filmed 2 weddings and a concert with my new Canon 5D Mark 2.
The image quality is phenomenal while being extremely versatile!

The footage I shot is some of the best I have ever shot. No joke!
I also find guests aren’t afraid of the camera like they are of a traditional video camera.
This means we capture more guests interactions instead of reactions from the camera.

I recommend the Canon 50mm 1.2L series lens and the Canon 24mm 1.4L series lens for reception filming!
Super fast and super sharp makes for awesome footage!

New Video Gear!!

We here at San Diego High Definition Weddings recently upgraded our cameras from the Sony Xdcam EX line to the Canon 5D Mark 2 and Canon 7D series cameras.
After filming our third event with them in 2 weeks we are in love!

We are truly excited about this.
We can shoot and have your video look like it was shot on a major motion picture film camera.
The image is just sexy as hell!

Ever since we started filming weddings and events in 2004 we have been looking to get the must sought after film look.
It is now here and its made our services better, while actually making them more affordable!

We are excited to be in our profession at this revolutionary time.
We can’t wait to make a wedding movie with you!

We have refined our editing process but that will be another post, so stay tuned!

Pilnyu & Alon’s Wedding at the Prado

Pilnyu & Alon got married at the beautiful Prado at Balboa Park on November 28, 2008. It was pointed out by their officiant that the chances of them meeting – Pilnyu from South Korea and Alon from Israel was over one in a billion. Against all odds, they stood to be united in marriage.

We were able to capture some fantastic time lapse footage throughout the day at Balboa Park. We were also lucky enough to have the bride and groom spent so much time with us towards the end of the reception to get some amazing romantic shots. Mike & Mia at Arbor Terrace

Mia and Mike got married on July 11, 2008 at Arbor Terrace at Grand Tradition in Fallbrook, California. This exotic setting is more beautiful than words can express. From the waterfall backdrop to the romantic fireplace behind the sweetheart’s table, every wedding that we’ve shot at Arbor Terrace has turned out amazing.

Mia and Kyle worked together in a past life so she immediately thought of us when she began to plan her wedding. Mia and Mike had the wedding of their dreams and we were able to capture it perfectly. Mayra and Bryan’s Wedding Day Highlights

Meet Mayra and Bryan. They got married on August 30, 2008 at the Hilton Garden Inn in beautiful Carlsbad, California. Bryan met with us early last year after he found some of our videos on YouTube! Talk about free advertising!

Bryan pursued Mayra for quite some time, and she wasn’t an easy woman to win over. (Notice the cake topper in the video!) They were a great couple and we enjoyed filming their wedding and meeting their families. We wish them the best on their marriage.

A Rocking Good Time

In our commitment to blog more this year, I’d like to start posting when we put updates to our website (specifically on our demo reel). Yesterday, I added a link to Charyse & Erik’s wedding that took place at the Hard Rock Hotel in downtown San Diego last August.

Charyse was a gorgeous bride and they really knew how to throw a good party – and the view was spectacular! The bridal party had such great personality and the grand entrance music they chose was the theme song from Friends, I’ll Be There for You. I think they accomplished their goal of not having a typical “San Diego” wedding.

The photography was done by hc.tran photography and it was unbelievable. Be sure to check out the guitar in the highlights to see their talent first hand. The entertainment of the night was provided by DJ Touch from MyDJ’s and he kept the dance floor hopping all night long!

For their highlights video, the music that we used was American Woman by Lenny Kravitz and Yeah by Usher Feat, Lil’ Jon & Ludacris. The HD version doesn’t seem to be coming up on Vimeo, so I’ll have to look into that a bit later today.

San Diego High Definition Weddings Has a New Website!

We just launched our new website at www.sdhdwed.com!!!

It’s been a long time coming and we are thrilled with the design concept that our good friend Rodney Bissell of Bissell Design Studios came up with. (It matches our the theme of our ad in San Diego Style Weddings perfectly.) We still have a ton of videos to post on our demo reel over the next couple of weeks – so keep checking back! Each time we post a new highlights video, we’ll be sure to write a little something-something about it on this blog.

One of our new year’s resolutions was to begin blogging about the business more often. As you can see, we weren’t too good at it last year (the last post was in November). Let’s hope that that is one resolution that we can keep…even if we are starting it a bit late.
