Note from Kyle:
Yesterday I received a call from a bride’s mother whose wedding we had shot in early August.
I figured it was a typical call of how long until the video is ready, etc… So I checked our post production schedule and had an answer ready for her and thought I was prepared for the phone call. I wasn’t.
The mother told me that the bride and groom were killed a few weeks ago.
I was stunned.
I mean what do you say to a grieving mother?
Regardless, she wanted the video when it was ready and that the groom’s mother also requested her son’s copy.
Of course I said yes and said I was sorry but I felt hollow inside unable to help her in her pain.
As I worked last night I was haunted by the feelings that my job was very trivial and unimportant so I prayed about it and went back to work on it.
As I watched the footage I saw two people in love in the youth and angst of life. They were loving every moment, surrounded by family and drinking in the joy of the day and the celebration of their love for each other.
I suddenly realized that my passion about the importance of video still stood true.
Video is important. Video is very important.
I could hear them talking and laughing and I watched them dance and have a great time.
These memories weren’t gone. They were painful to watch at this moment in time but they were here.
I’m sure the families will get the video and not be able to watch them right away, how could they?
But in a few years or so, my hope is that they can watch the beautiful day and remember their son and daughter the way they were that day, beautiful, happy, and full of love for each other and their families.
That is my fervent hope and prayer for each of their families.
